MIAMI. FL

The design for this new modern ground up house is referential to Miami Beach’s Art Deco history - with corner windows, overhangs, and touches of bright color. To address the issue of flooding prevalent in that area, the house will be raised one story above grade. The new “understory” contains a shaded entry area, patio, and pool with outdoor kitchen. The garage and entry/stair vestibule will be constructed of materials that allow for flooding. The house is composed of two volumes divided by a transparent zone containing the main staircase. Metal screens create privacy, sun-protection, and hurricane-resistance for large windows.
