Mclean .VA
This new home in Virginia is being built on property that was left to the owner by his parents, who had the foresight to divide the land into parcels for their sons. The family, Greek in origin, continues to have ties to their ancestry homeland. The client requested the home acknowledge the solar orientation and have a strong connection between interior and exterior living. The resulting house focuses the main living spaces on a patio and pool with southern exposure. Folding doors between the interior and exterior allow for uninterrupted circulation during family celebrations and events. The front of the house, which faces a busy street, has minimal openings and houses mostly service areas, garage, bathrooms, and closets which buffer the noisy traffic beyond. The lounge and stair area on the upper level separates the main bedroom from the children's rooms, providing privacy for all family members.
