Asheville. NC

This renovation in Asheville, NC, serves as a retirement home for KUBE’s Salt + Pepper House clients. Asheville is an artistic community located within a beautiful natural setting. The house sits at a high elevation, with a panoramic view of the mountains. The program consists of a full interior renovation, including new kitchen, dining, and living space, and master suite. The exterior of the house could not be modified, but the goal for the interior was to create a clean, modern environment, with bright colors as an homage to the peak fall colors of the surrounding mountain foliage. The new plan opens and unifies the living spaces, replacing a previously dark and heavy interior. Large skylights bring natural light into the house, and every room now has a panoramic view of the mountains beyond. The house is designed for aging-in-place, so the new interior allows for wheelchair accessibility and ADA-compliance. The clients love to collect local artwork, so they are filling their new house with the work of local craftsmen and artisans
